Job summary

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Safeguarding Practitioner to provide specialist advisory, supportive and educative services for colleagues across the Trust with a focus on the think family approach to safeguarding children.

The post holder will collaborate with the Named Midwife and Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to develop policies, promote best practice and disseminate safeguarding information to enhance risk management and interagency work.

Qualifications

• Post-registration experience at Band 5 or above.
• Knowledge of safeguarding underpinned by theory and experience.
• Experience of multi-professional and multi-agency working.
• Experience of teaching.
• Knowledge of local and national policy.
• Knowledge of Domestic Abuse.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on Safeguarding Children for colleagues across the Trust.
• Develop, maintain and evaluate training programmes.
• Support colleagues managing complex safeguarding situations to develop competence and confidence.
• Provide operational support to the Domestic Abuse agenda and line management of Domestic Abuse officers.
• Access legal advice when appropriate and escalate cases with Named Midwife/Nurse.
• Undertake regular audit activity as directed.
• Participate in committees and meetings as identified.
