Job summary

Cornwall Council is recruiting a Social Worker for safeguarding triage across county pathways. You will lead fast-paced triage with new and existing cases, ensuring person-centred outcomes while coordinating with health partners and other agencies.

You will hold a recognised Social Work qualification, work within a supportive team, and benefit from induction, supervision, and ongoing professional development. This role supports flexible working within a public service setting.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation (Care Act) and application in practice.
• Experience in strengths-based, person-centred social work.
• Ability to analyse complex risk, need and capacity.
• Skilled decision-making in high-risk situations.
• Ability to lead safeguarding enquiries and deliver defensible outcomes.
• Confident working in multi‑agency environments and building relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Screen and triage safeguarding concerns.
• Gather information and apply Making Safeguarding Personal approach.
• Make threshold decisions for safeguarding processes.
• Identify next steps for adults at risk of abuse or harm.
• Collaborate with external agencies to assess risks and support independence.
• Share expertise and support team development within a MDT context.
• Supervise and support Social Care Practitioners.
• Be part of the duty system and contribute to improvements.
