Job summary

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Safeguarding Nurse/Practitioner to provide expert safeguarding support across wards and departments. The post is a 9‑month fixed‑term contract or secondment, designed to develop safeguarding knowledge for an ROH registered nurse or AHP with some safeguarding experience.

Qualifications

• Current valid NMC registration or HCPC registration included.
• Completion of Level 3 Safeguarding Training and additional safeguarding training.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
• Recent safeguarding external training.
• Recognised teaching qualification such as mentorship or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the safeguarding team and support the named nurse, safeguarding lead and head of safeguarding.
• Provide safeguarding advice to frontline staff and contribute to governance, audits and training.
• Develop and apply knowledge of safeguarding legislation and guidance (Children Act, Working Together, MCA, DoLS, Domestic Abuse Act, Care Act).
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to minimise risk and promote wellbeing of vulnerable groups.
• Independently assess and manage patients with complex safeguarding needs and complete DoLs, Early Help assessments, MARAC and multi‑agency referrals.
• Maintain high standards of clinical records and professional supervision and mentoring.
