Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking a secondee for the Safeguarding Children Team. The post involves delivering safeguarding guidance, training staff, and supporting MASH activities to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The role offers exposure to a wider safeguarding team including Adults, Maternity & Learning Disabilities, with a strong emphasis on partnership working across hospital and community services to ensure safe discharge and high standards of safeguarding practice.

Qualifications

  • Interest in safeguarding children and making a difference to children's lives.
  • Experience in providing safeguarding advice and training is desirable.
  • Ability to participate in safeguarding supervision and multi-agency work.

Responsibilities

Job description

A vacancy for a secondment /fixed term contract within the Safeguarding Children Team. Ideal for anyone who has an interest in safeguarding children and wants to increase their knowledge as well as making a difference to children's lives.

It also includes being part of a wider Safeguarding Team including Adults, Maternity & Learning Disabilities.

The role includes:

  • Offering support, advice & guidance to staff across the Trust (acute & community)
  • Presenting training to staff on safeguarding children matters
  • Participating in safeguarding supervision with practitioners
  • Assisting MASH staff in completing children's health checks as required.

Main duties of the job

  • Take personal responsibility for actions and omissions and recognise personal accountability.
  • To deliver effective compassionate safeguarding advice support and supervision under the direction of the Safeguarding Children Team Lead and attendance at any Multi-Agency meetings as required.
  • To work in partnership with Health Professionals trust wide and external agencies to strengthen the professional interface between hospital and community services with regards to all children and young people accessing The Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Services.
  • To ensure safe and effective discharge arrangements for children and young people are in place.
  • Ensuring the standards of professional safeguarding practice are maintained in respect of all incidents.
  • Utilise clinical proficiency in delivering a high standard of safeguarding care and practice.
  • To support the safeguarding team to deliver continually improved standards and efficient and effective use of resources.

To be accountable for:

  • Delivering safe and effective safeguarding practice
  • Enhancing the patients experience with regular and constructive communication, advice and input for staff trust wide
  • Developing and supporting the safeguarding performance of teams/clinicians
  • Ensuring effective contribution to the delivery of the organisation's objectives
