Salary: Between £26,780 and £31,415 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Advisor to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group. As a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Advisor, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Safeguarding & Wellbeing Support – Provide impartial advice and short-term interventions to address safeguarding concerns and wellbeing barriers, helping students stay engaged in education.
  • Case Management & Referrals – Record and triage concerns using CPOMS, manage referrals to internal and external services, and ensure timely, compliant interventions aligned with college thresholds.
  • Education & Awareness – Deliver group sessions and wellbeing events on key issues (e.g. consent, bullying, anxiety), and support staff, students, and parents with safeguarding knowledge and resources.
  • Collaboration & Communication – Work closely with Student Services, curriculum teams, and external agencies, attending multi-agency meetings and contributing to a joined-up support approach.
  • Compliance & College Engagement – Uphold statutory duties in safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety, contribute to college-wide activities, and ensure the student experience remains central to all actions.
About You
  • Communication & Teamwork – Able to engage confidently with students and staff at all levels, work collaboratively across college teams, and contribute to a supportive, inclusive environment.
  • Student Support Experience – Proven experience in student welfare, delivering short- and long-term support, and providing information, advice, and guidance in a busy educational setting.
  • Administrative & Organisational Skills – High-level admin skills, attention to detail, ability to write formal/informal communications, meet deadlines, and plan effectively.
  • Technical & Professional Knowledge – Proficient in Word, Excel, and databases; qualified to Level 3 in a relevant subject; holds or is willing to work towards Youth Mental Health First Aid certification.
  • Personal Attributes & Reliability – Friendly, outgoing, flexible, with strong problem-solving skills, good attendance and timekeeping, and a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
