Job summary

GenesisCare UK in Windsor is seeking a Senior SACT Nurse to deliver chemotherapy nursing services, deputise for the line manager, and provide expert clinical leadership within the unit. You will work with consultants, pharmacists, radiographers and the MDT to ensure holistic cancer care and an excellent patient experience.

The role focuses on education, toxicity assessment, supportive care, and managing a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, with access to advanced treatments, trials and professional

Qualifications

• NMC registration is essential and current.
• 2 years nursing experience in oncology administering chemotherapy/SACT.
• UKONS SACT Passport or willingness to complete within three months.
• Experience in venepuncture, cannulation and central venous access devices.
• Experience in oncology telephone triage and management of neutropenic sepsis.
• Experience with blood transfusion and bone marrow biopsies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to make decisions, prioritise and work accurately under pressure.

Job description

Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey as a Senior SACT Nurse at our state-of-the-art cancer care centre located in Windsor? As a Senior SACT Nurse, you are responsible for delivering chemotherapy nursing services to patients within the unit and to deputise for the line manager where required. What You'll Do

• Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through all stages of treatment
• Ensure continuity of a high standard of evidence-based nursing care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, assessing health, health related and nursing needs of patients, their families and other carers by identifying and initiating appropriate steps for effective care. This will include:
  + Managing a patient caseload
  + Close liaison with medical consultants
  + Ordering diagnostic tests within agreed parameters
  + Running nurse-led clinics
• Work autonomously whilst providing clinical leadership, ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporates the issues and recommendations made ensuring clear documentation in the patients records
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in intravenous access, the management of central venous catheters, venepuncture, and chemotherapy delivery, including the management of anaphylaxis and extravasation, You'll work within a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, with longer appointment times giving you more opportunity to focus on what matters: education, toxicity assessment, holistic care and emotional support.

• UKONS SACT Passport, or willingness to complete this within three months

• Experience and competence in blood transfusion and bone marrow biopsies
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
