Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Lead Pharmacist for oncology and haematology clinical trials to oversee set up, conduct and governance of trials within the Trust.

The role ensures compliant dispensing and aseptic service, with responsibility for leading trial activities and supporting the Trust Research & Development portfolio in a dynamic NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Master of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent)
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent)
• 1 year pre-registration training and minimum 3 years’ hospital experience
• Significant post-qualification hospital pharmacy experience
• Involvement in supporting clinical trials
• Understanding of Clinical Trials legislation
• Experience in Oncology/Haematology

• Coordinate all pharmaceutical aspects of oncology and haematology clinical trials across the Trust.
• Ensure quality pharmaceutical dispensing and aseptic service for trials.
• Lead and direct setting up oncology/haematology CTIMPs with sponsor documents and timelines.

• Be the delegated Lead Pharmacist for oncology & haematology and radiopharmacy trials.

The successful candidate will be a hard-working and professional individual who enjoys being part of research. The principal objective of this role is to provide leadership for the oncology & haematology clinical trials and effective oversight directing the safe and timely set up and maintenance of these clinical trials at the trust.

The post holder will build and expand the oncology & haematology clinical trials portfolio whilst ensuring compliance with International Conference on Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), clinical trials regulations, the research governance framework and other relevant guidelines and policies.

Main duties of the job

• To coordinate all pharmaceutical aspects of oncology and haematology clinical trials across the Trust, and to help ensure the provision of a quality pharmaceutical dispensing and aseptic service to patients of the Trust with regard to these trials.
• Comply with specific guidance and regulations relating to clinical trials, for example International Conference on Harmonisation for Good Clinical Practice (ICH E6 R3), the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) (Amendment) Regulations 2025, and other relevant guidelines, regulations and policies on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for Clinical Trials.
• Lead and direct the setting up oncology & haematology clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (CTIMPs) accurately following sponsor provided clinical trial documents and within sponsor and trust agreed timelines.
• Support and develop the Trust Research & Development portfolio.
• Be the delegated Lead Pharmacist for oncology & haematology and radiopharmacy clinical trials.

• Understanding of Clinical Trials legislation
• Relevant experience working in Oncology/Haematology field.

Desirable criteria

• Experience working in a pharmacy clinical trials department
• Experience working in pharmacy aseptics unit
• Knowledge of current and future developments in cancer treatment.
