Job summary

The SACT Clinical Improvement Manager will provide support to the system-wide SACT demand and capacity project. They will support SACT units across Kent and Medway to develop and deliver their action plans and use quality improvement methodology to give recommendations for improvements. The SACT Clinical Improvement Manager will deliver transformational change and quality improvement, to improve the quality and experience for cancer patients across Kent and Medway.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Cancer Alliance and will be expected to:

  • Be seen as a clinical expert and act as a resource to all members of the multi professional teams working within the Trusts
  • Participate in service developments, business planning, and service review of chemotherapy services
  • Work with stakeholders on the outcomes of the demand and capacity project, oversee working groups
  • Support and challenge staff at multiple levels
  • Promote the development of chemotherapy services in line with the National Cancer Quality Standards
  • Attend and participate in the work of the Chemotherapy Service Groups and other relevant groups as delegated
  • Report quarterly on progress

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience
  • Professional registration

  • Extensive knowledge of SACT
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
  • Have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy in the South East and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisations
  • Experience of identifying and interpreting National policy.
  • Experience of researching best practice (globally, private and public sector), interpreting its relevance and processes/ practices which could be implemented successfully to achieve system reform (advising on policy implementation)
