Job summary

Supreme Search Specialists are recruiting a Registered Veterinary Nurse for a busy small animal practice in St Albans, Hertfordshire. The role offers £31,000 per annum, generous leave, funded CPD and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will support vets with consultations, monitor anaesthesia and manage nurse-led clinics, with a 1 in 6 weekend rota and opportunities for development in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Veterinary Nursing qualification and be registered with the RCVS.
• Experience working as an RVN in a small animal practice.
• Confident in general nursing responsibilities, patient monitoring and clinical care.
• Interest in nurse-led consultations, surgical nursing and preventative healthcare.
• Excellent communication and client-relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to small animal patients.
• Conduct nurse-led consultations and provide preventative healthcare advice.
• Monitor general anaesthesia and provide perioperative nursing support.
• Assist veterinarians with medical treatments and surgical procedures.
• Perform Schedule 3 procedures where trained and authorised.
• Provide inpatient care, including monitoring, medication and recovery.
• Manage admissions and discharges with clear communication to pet owners.
• Prepare patients, equipment and areas for surgical procedures.
• Assist with diagnostic investigations and laboratory procedures.
• Support the team with clinical administration and patient coordination.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and uphold nursing standards.
• Educate pet owners on welfare and postoperative care.
• Collaborate with surgeons and support staff to ensure outcomes.
• Maintain hygiene, infection control and safety.
• Participate in weekend, bank holiday and on-call rota.
• Pursue CPD and develop additional clinical interests.
