Job summary

GCHQ’s Language Talent Programme offers an 11-week paid internship for Russian language specialists with placements in Cheltenham, Manchester, or London. You’ll train, then work on real operations, translating Russian text and audio while learning to use language tools.

Successful candidates who pass language tests and competency interviews may join as full-time language specialists. A 2:2 in Russian is required, with Ukrainian ability being a plus.

Qualifications

• 2:2 degree or above in Russian.
• Ability to learn new language tools and adapt to training.
• Interest in a career in intelligence and language analysis.

Responsibilities

• Translate, interpret and contextualise Russian content for intelligence purposes.
• Analyse Russian audio and written materials and produce language analysis reports.
• Develop skills across language tools and collaborate with teams across MI5 and GCHQ.
