Job summary

NHS Shetland seeks a Consultant General Surgeon, whether substantive or locum, full-time or part-time with rotational arrangements, to join a small, highly integrated team delivering high-quality surgical care across a broad spectrum of conditions in a remote rural setting.

The post offers a salary of £115,331 - £153,247 per annum (pro rata), an 8% On-Call supplement, a Distant Island Allowance of £2,578 per annum (pro rata), relocation assistance up to £8,000, and opportunities for professional

Qualifications

• Experience in general surgery across a broad spectrum in a rural setting.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and lead service improvements.
• Willingness to engage in diversity of operative cases and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and management of acute surgical presentations.
• Maintain responsibility for inpatient care and contribute to elective general surgery.
• Lead and contribute to clinical governance, service planning and quality improvement.
• Participate in a 1:4 on-call rota and collaborate with regional teams.
