Job summary

NHS Highland, Argyll & Bute, is recruiting a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to cover Kintyre, Islay and Jura. The post includes outpatient duties within a multi-disciplinary team, with some in-reach to the local inpatient ward and domiciliary visits as required.

The role leads the community mental health team, works with crisis teams and social services, and undertakes duties under the Mental Health Act. 32 hours per week across 8 programmed activities.

Qualifications

• GMC Specialist Register with a Licence to Practice.
• Within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview.
• Experience in General Adult Psychiatry and leadership in community mental health.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient services as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Oversee admitted locality patients with some in-reach to the inpatient ward.
• Lead the community mental health team and collaborate with crisis teams, social work and voluntary organisations.
• Undertake RMO responsibilities under the Mental Health Act and conduct domiciliary visits.
• Contribute to strategic development and ongoing service improvements.
