Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking friendly individuals to join as flexible (temporary) postal delivery drivers. You will drive a Royal Mail van on your round and also walk portions of your route, delivering letters and parcels with a focus on reliable, courteous service.

Key requirements include a full UK driving licence (max 6 points), fitness to walk long distances, and the ability to adapt to changing shifts. Training and a driving assessment are provided on start.

Qualifications

• Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, in and out of your van, and carry a mailbag up to 16kg.
• Shifts can vary; we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver letters and parcels across your route, sometimes on foot and by van.
• Securely deliver all items, including election materials and select goods, following Royal Mail standards.
• Provide courteous service and represent Royal Mail in the community.

What We’re Looking For

Your Role

As a Post Person with Driving, you’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, ensuring letters and parcels are delivered come rain or shine. You’ll drive round your delivery area, completing parts of your route on foot, providing exceptional service and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely.

You’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.

Important to Know

While large parts of the role involves walking, driving a Royal Mail delivery van is also a key requirement. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy being outdoors and staying active throughout the day. Please note: you’ll be required to pass a driving assessment when you start.

Pay & Shifts

The table below outlines the pay rates applicable for roles within our Delivery Offices. The rates displayed are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met.

Rates could be subject to change during busy periods, Angard staffing will communicate any change to your pay rates in advance.

• Early 0530 STARTS BETWEEN 0501 – 0530 £14.61
• Evening FINISHES BETWEEN 2000 – 2139 £14.38
• Lates FINISHES BETWEEN 2140 – 0159 £15.14
• Nights THREE HOURS ACROSS 2300 – 0500 £16.44

While this is a temporary role, there may be potential for it to become permanent.
