Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking flexible individuals to join the North Tyneside Delivery Office as a Post Person with Driving. You will drive a Royal Mail van and deliver letters and parcels across your area, with parts of the route completed on foot.

The role demands high activity, delivering items in all weather and maintaining safety and service standards. The position requires a full, manual UK driving licence with up to 6 points, the ability to walk up to 20,000 steps daily, and flexibility to work

Qualifications

• Be prepared to walk long distances (up to 20,000 steps per day) and carry items up to 16 kg.
• Shifts vary and require flexibility to respond at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Royal Mail delivery van and complete parts of the route on foot as needed.
• Securely deliver all items, including election materials and certain restricted items, in line with Royal Mail standards.

What We're Looking For

Driving Licence: Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points you'll be driving a Royal Mail van as part of your round.

Physical Fitness: Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, get in and out of your van regularly, and carry a mailbag weighing up to 16kg.

Flexibility: Shifts can vary, so we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Your Role

As a Post Person with Driving, you'll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, ensuring letters and parcels are delivered come rain or shine. You'll drive round your delivery area, completing parts of your route on foot, providing exceptional service and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely.

You're expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.

Important to Know

While large parts of the role involves walking, driving a Royal Mail delivery van is also a key requirement. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy being outdoors and staying active throughout the day. Please note: you'll be required to pass a driving assessment when you start.

Pay & Shifts

The table below outlines the pay rates applicable for roles within our Delivery Offices. The rates displayed are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met.

Rates could be subject to change during busy periods, Angard staffing will communicate any change to your pay rates in advance.

Guaranteed Hours: From 2nd November to 24th December - guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week

Shift - Shift Description = Pay Rate

Day Shift - Starts and finishes between 05:31 and 19:59 =

£13.69 per hour

Dawn Shift - Starts between 02:01 and 04:00 =

£14.61 per hour

Early 05:00 Shift - Starts between 04:01 and 05:00 =

£14.61 per hour

Early 05:30 Shift - Starts between 05:01 and 05:30 =

£14.61 per hour

Evening Shift - Finishes between 20:00 and 21:39 =

£14.38 per hour

Late Shift - Finishes between 21:40 and 01:59 =

£15.14 per hour

Night Shift - Three hours across 23:00 and 05:00 =

£16.44 per hour

While this is a temporary role, there may be potential for it to become permanent.
