Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an ROV Tooling Technician for a permanent role based in Kintore, Aberdeenshire. You will inspect, maintain and repair ROV tooling, support tooling builds, and prepare equipment for offshore mobilisation.

You will diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems, read engineering drawings and work both independently and as part of a team within a dynamic renewables environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Proven experience maintaining, inspecting, testing, and repairing ROV tooling.
  • Knowledge of ROV tooling systems including torque tools, valve packs, cutters, LAOTs and IHPUs.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems and ability to diagnose faults from schematics.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and work from technical documentation.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with electrical fault-finding is advantageous.

  • Prepare tooling packages for offshore mobilisation ensuring certification and readiness.
  • Diagnose faults and repair hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems.
  • Support mobilisations, site interface testing and commissioning activities.
  • Manage equipment records, work orders and inventory for traceability.

Job description

Our client, a leader in the renewables sector, is currently seeking an ROV Tooling Technician to join their busy team in Kintore, Aberdeenshire. This permanent role offers a hands-on problem-solver the chance to work with cutting-edge offshore technology and make a significant impact in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspecting, maintaining, testing, and repairing a wide range of ROV tooling and associated equipment
  • Commissioning new tooling systems and supporting bespoke tooling builds from assembly through to testing
  • Preparing tooling packages for offshore mobilisation, ensuring all equipment is certified, operational, and deployment-ready
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-hydraulic systems
  • Supporting mobilisations, site interface testing, and commissioning activities when required
  • Managing equipment records, work orders, and inventory to maintain operational readiness and traceability
Job Requirements:
  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience maintaining, inspecting, testing, and repairing ROV tooling equipment
  • Strong knowledge of ROV tooling systems, including torque tools, valve packs, cutters, LAOTs, and IHPUs
  • Sound understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose faults and interpret schematics
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-focused approach
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with electrical systems and fault-finding would be advantageous
