Job summary

Green & Wolvin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Transport Planner in Slough (Berkshire) with appetite for route planning and optimisation. The role offers remote or hybrid work with 1–2 days in the office if preferred.

You will plan up to 800 routes daily using MaxOptra/Paragon, ensure OTIF deliveries, manage a mix of fleet types, and drive KPI performance in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in transport planning or network design.
• Experience with TMS or transport planning software (MaxOptra, Paragon).
• Systems-based planning experience is essential.
• Experience in food/3PL or temperature-controlled sectors preferred.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Based remotely or on a hybrid basis in Slough, Berkshire.

Responsibilities

• Plan up to 800 multi-drop routes per day on a Day 1/Day 2 basis using planning software and manual planning.
• Utilise planning software to ensure OTIF deliveries and KPI compliance.
• Coordinate transport via in-house fleet and third-party transit partners.
• Ensure drivers comply with WTD and VOSA regulations.
• Monitor transport-related costs and keep operations within budget.
• Oversee vehicle availability, maintenance, and safety compliance.

We are actively looking to engage transport, logistics and distribution professionals with a passion for route planning & optimisation for a new role as a Senior Transport Planner in Slough, Berkshire. The route can be based remotely or 1-2 days in office if preferred.

Client Details

Our client is a marketing-leading, blue-chip provider, of food manufacturing and service product with a world-wide presence. This food distribution business supplies quality ambient, chilled and frozen products across the UK. You will be joining a fast-paced environment (distributing B2B and B2C) in an existing logistics & manufacturing hub around 400k sq.ft. with circa 250 colleagues across warehousing and transport.

Job Description

• Being part of a team responsible for planning up to 800 multi-drop routes per day on a Day 1 for Day 2 basis utilising planning TMS software (MaxOptra & Paragon) and manual planning within a mixed fleet of class 1, class 2 and temperature controlled vans.
• Utilsing leading planning software to ensure deliveries reach their destination OTIF and within agreed service KPIs.
• Organising transport through a fleet of HGV and LGV vehicle alongside a third party transit means via sub-contraction.
• Ensuring drivers are operating within WTD regulations and in-line with VOSA regulations.
• Monitor transport-related expenses, such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, and labour costs, ensuring operations stay within budget.
• Oversee the availability, maintenance, and operational efficiency of vehicles within the transport fleet, ensuring compliance with legal and safety requirements.
• Ensure the service and customer led KPI's are uphold and exceeded within the company transport plan.

The Ideal Candidate

• 3+ year's experience in transport planning and / or network design.
• Experience working with TMS or Transport Planning software (such as MaxOptra or Paragon)
• Systems based planning experience is essential
• Ideally the postholder would have experience on multi-drop deliveries within the food / 3PL or temperature controlled sector (such as Pharma).
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Based either remotely or on a hybrid basis in Slough, Berkshire.
