Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join a rotational post across stroke, neurology and musculoskeletal services. The role offers diverse caseload, patient-centred assessment, treatment and rehabilitation within a supportive MDT.

You will work with supervision from senior clinicians while developing autonomy and clinical expertise, contributing to safe discharge, record-keeping and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Excellent command of the English language, written and verbal.
  • Current UK HCPC physiotherapist registration.
  • Degree-level physiotherapy qualification or equivalent.
  • Evidence of ongoing postgraduate development (portfolios/CPD).

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy skills to multidisciplinary teams within HIOW services across a 7-day service.
  • Assess and treat own caseload with supervision from a senior clinician.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in line with Trust requirements.
  • Collaborate in staff meetings and in-service training.

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across a diverse caseload while delivering high-quality, patient-centred assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, receiving guidance from experienced senior clinicians while developing your autonomy and clinical expertise. As a rotational Physiotherapist you will have the opportunity to work in the below specialities on a 6 monthly rotation basis.

  • Stroke Rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge
  • Inpatients Neuro Rehabilitation
  • Community Neuro rehabilitation
  • Musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy
  • Integrated community therapy
  • Specialist Inpatients complex rehabilitation
  • Respiratory Service
  • Medical Assessment and Inpatient Acute Medical Care

The key roles are

  • To provide therapy skills to teams within HIOW services across up to a 7 day service.
  • To assess and treat own caseload, with supervision from a senior and to maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner
  • To work as part of the therapy team and take part in staff meetings, and in-service training sessions.
  • To supervise and support more junior staff, Rehabilitation Assistants and Students with support from Seniors.
  • To contribute to the inter-disciplinary working within the teams and Locality by teaching, learning & practicing inter-disciplinary skills & techniques
Main duties of the job

Use investigative and analytical skills to provide clinically effective assessment of patients including those with multi-pathologies, use basic clinical reasoning skills to provide accurate diagnosis of their condition. With support and guidance from more senior staff interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnosis and prognosis in a wide range of conditions and to recommend best form of intervention. To formulate an appropriate, individual management and/or treatment programme using clinical reasoning skills and based on sound knowledge of evidence-based practice; setting objectives; timed goals and ensuring treatment progression using a variety of treatment techniques. With support and guidance from senior staff evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes. Ensure maintenance of medical records and that they comply with legal, professional and Trust requirements as an autonomous practitioner. Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate a team approach to patient care.

Facilitate safe discharge for patients, participating in home visits with patients where necessary, undertaking risk assessments, ordering appropriate equipment and providing advice for patients and their carers, with support from senior staff. Maintain own clinical professional development by keeping up to date with any new trends and developments and incorporating these into practice as appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Able to demonstrate a good command of the English Language, both written and verbal
  • Professional UK registration-Registered HCPC Physiotherapist
  • Degree level education in physiotherapy or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study or employment experience
  • Evidence or portfolio of post graduate continued development
