Job summary

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Physiotherapist to work across community clinics, hospital outpatient locations and patients’ homes within a six-month rotation. You will gain broad clinical experience with guidance from senior staff as part of a supportive preceptorship in your first year.

The role involves assessing and managing a wide range of conditions, with opportunities for training and development within a strong NHS practice community.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Experience of working in the community.
• MCSP or equivalent.
• Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development.
• Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions.
• Ability to communicate complex information to others where there may be barriers to understanding.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for a designated caseload of patients.
• To organise this caseload efficiently and effectively with regards to clinical priorities.
• Undertake client assessment using standardised assessment tools and/or the single assessment process.
• Recommend appropriate interventions to promote independence and safety.
• Monitor client status, using clinical judgement and knowledge in regards to progressing and/ or making minor modifications to treatment programmes.
• Maintain effective multidisciplinary communications in order to ensure that treatment goals are met and a high quality service is provided to clients.
• Ensure safe, appropriate and effective provision, installation and demonstration of equipment and further develop knowledge of minor/major adaptation provision and teach necessary techniques to ensure patient safety.
• To work in a co-ordinated multidisciplinary manner, communicating effectively with other team members and the wider clinical and social network involved in client care.
• To undertake all of the aspects of the role as detailed in the Job description and Personal Specification.

As part of the Band 5 rotational scheme, the postholder will work across community clinics in the hospital, outpatient locations and patients' homes, gaining broad experience and developing clinical skills. Each six-month rotation builds on previous experience, enabling the postholder to strengthen and expand their clinical competencies with guidance and support from senior staff. All staff are supported by our award winning Preceptorship team to complete their preceptorship within their first year. There are many opportunities for training and development even as a new member of staff and we welcome you to join our strong communities of practice. Rotations include Musculoskeletal outpatients in Bexley Care, Musculoskeletal physiotherapy in Greenwich Clinics, COPD/ pulmonary rehabilitation, Community rehabilitation, community neurology and our Meadowview intermediate care unit. The main duties of the job are to assess and manage patients referred to the team with a wide range of conditions.
