Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Band 5 rotational scheme, with a large range of specialist areas forming a comprehensive programme of six monthly rotations. These rotations are based across 3 of our sites in Brighton, Haywards Heath and Newhaven.

You will work in a team-based structure with senior OT leads, but you will also be an integral part of the specialty MDT working closely with Physiotherapists to provide an integrated approach to rehabilitation and discharge.

We can offer a wide range of rotations including: Stroke, Neuro‑surgery, Sub‑acute inpatient Neuro‑rehab, Emergency Department and acute floor, Medical, Surgical, Respiratory, Dementia, Orthopaedics, Frailty and Re‑ablement in our Community Ward.

A supportive working environment with regular supervision, opportunity to develop your own supervision skills and contribution to service development.

If you are newly qualified and awaiting registration and OT PIN number, we may start as a Band 4 to avoid delay with start date.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy interventions as part of an evidence-based, flexible and patient-centred approach, working within a multi-disciplinary team, to meet the health and social care needs of people referred to our service.
  • Perform an occupational therapy role for people referred to the post holder’s clinical team with health and social care needs.
  • Provide supervision and support for relevant junior members of occupational therapy staff in conjunction with senior staff.
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated team.
  • Support the supervision and training for students on practice placement.
Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or final year of MSc or BSc in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registered or in the process of getting registered.
  • Working in a variety of clinical settings (desirable).
Key Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
  • Relevant knowledge and experience from practice placements.
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to formulate treatment goals and carry out intervention within an OT framework.
  • Produce clear, concise written and verbal reports.
  • Ability to prioritise caseload on a daily basis.
  • Be able to manage time effectively and demonstrate good organisational skills.
  • IT skills.

Ethical and Other Requirements

Applications subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Current UK professional registration required. Visa sponsorship available for eligible applicants under UKVI Skilled Worker route and UKVI Graduate route with specific thresholds.

Employment Details

Band 5, Permanent, Full-time, Salary £31,049 to £37,796 a year (pro rata). Contract start: 10 December 2025. Locations: Royal Sussex County Hospital/Princess Royal Hospital, Brighton and Haywards Heath, BN2 5BE.
