Job description

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Rota Assistant to join our Urology service at North Bristol NHS Trust. This is a key administrative role within a large and busy clinical department, supporting the delivery of safe and effective patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance and regular updating of the clinical rota.
  • Ensure appropriate cover for all clinical areas including on‑call shifts, theatres, and clinics.
  • Manage leave requests (annual, study, sickness) in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Liaise with medical staff, service managers and clinical leads to address and resolve rota gaps.
  • Distribute the rota to relevant teams in a timely and clear manner.
  • Support the department to remain compliant with junior doctor safe working hours and contractual requirements.
  • Provide general administrative support to the rota function as needed.
Qualifications
  • Well‑organised individual with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing demands and remain calm under pressure.
  • Previous experience in an administrative role (rota or NHS experience desirable but not essential).
  • Confidence in using computer systems (full training provided).
