Job description
Team Leader – Cambian Brook View School, Ribchester

The role is about leading a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety, and welfare of our young people first. The position provides appropriate physical and emotional support to young people in residence through a team of care staff within a residential environment. The emphasis is on effective management of a team, which involves motivating, coaching, managing performance via probation/appraisal, and auditing the quality of care. This role is critical in ensuring that the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards are exceeded, and offers the opportunity to develop and improve practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effective supervision and appraisal.
  • Good knowledge of learning disabilities and/or special needs including recent developments.
  • Good knowledge of recognised positive approaches to working with challenging behaviours associated with learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge of human growth and development.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and legislation.
  • Proven experience of leading and managing a team and developing good practice in a care/learning support context.
  • Proven experience of working effectively with young people with learning disabilities and/or special needs.
  • Experience of planning, organising and delivering learning activities appropriate to meet young people’s needs and abilities, demonstrating positive outcomes.
  • Experience of person‑centred planning.
Person Specification
  • Knowledge of management practice including principles.
  • Must hold a full UK manual driving licence.
Requirements of the Team Leader
  • Minimum of a Level 3 RQF Child and Young Person’s Workforce qualification or equivalent (essential).
  • To undertake required training as requested that is relevant to the post.
  • Successful candidates will have to meet the person specification in order to be offered this post.
