Job description

Augur transforms legacy sensor systems into real-time operational intelligence. We help organisations act before threats ... - not after damage is done. Everything we build is privacy-first by design.

Our platform connects to existing cameras and sensors to detect threats, retrace events, and surface real-time insights - all without replacing a single device. Augur helps teams reduce risk, cut costs, and grow revenue through better visibility, faster decisions, and fewer blind spots.

Our culture is built on a foundation of radical candor and mutual trust. We recognise that being an industry leader requires more than just building exceptional products - it requires empowering a team of exceptional people. Individually, we operate with high autonomy; collectively, we're unified by a shared drive to achieve our mission through a commitment to excellence.

We're looking for a Robotics Engineer to join our growing technical team in London and take ownership of the integration of a new counter-UAS initiative.

This role sits at the intersection of robotics, machine learning and systems engineering, and you'll own the integration across all three. You'll prove out the concept, build the prototype, and take it into trials, working closely with product partners and other stakeholders along the way.

The role is highly interdisciplinary, so we're less concerned with ticking every box than with finding someone motivated, curious, and willing to learn. Across the project, you'll draw on areas such as:

Machine learning and computer vision

Sensors and camera modelling

State estimation and sensor fusion

Control theory

Modelling and simulation

Low-level programming and hardware/software integration

We don't expect you to be an expert in all of these. If you're strong in some and excited to grow into the rest, we'd like to hear from you.

What We're Looking For

A degree in robotics, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field - or another engineering background backed by hands-on hardware/software integration work.

Strong programming skills in a low-level language (C, C++ or Rust), plus Python.

A working understanding of modern computer vision, including object detection and tracking, and experience training, optimising, and deploying models for real-time or resource-constrained use.

Hands-on experience with state estimation and sensor fusion - using techniques such as Kalman filtering and factor graphs to combine noisy sensor data into reliable estimates - and with the problems they underpin, such as SLAM.

A solid grasp of sensors and how to model them: you understand how real sensors behave, particularly cameras, and can represent them with appropriate models (e.g. camera and distortion models).

Self-directed initiative: you can take an unfamiliar problem, get up to speed through your own research, and clearly document and share your findings so others can build on them.

Strong communication skills: you can explain technical work clearly and work effectively with external partners and suppliers.

Nice to Have

A working knowledge of control theory, particularly designing and tuning PID controllers for closed-loop systems.

Experience developing and testing systems before committing to hardware, from numerical modelling through to 3D simulation.

Familiarity with RF and RF-based sensing, including how RF sensors and sensor arrays work.

Accessibility and inclusivity

At Augur, our culture is built on radical candor and mutual trust. To solve the complex, physical-world problems our customers face, we need a team that thinks differently.

Whether you're self-taught, have a non-traditional background, or are returning to the workforce, if you have the grit and the experience we're looking for at Augur, we'd love to hear from you.

We are committed to fostering a diverse workplace and ensuring an accessible hiring experience - please let us know if you require any accommodations during the interview process to help you do your best work.
