Job summary

PSJ Fabrications, a Wood subsidiary, based in Bedford, is seeking an experienced Robotic Welding Programmer & Operator to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team. The role involves operating, developing and optimising robotic welding systems to production standards.

You will take existing programmes, modify them and run production, while troubleshooting and refining processes to ensure high-quality welds. A hands-on welder with robotics experience is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Hands-on welder who can operate and program robotic welding equipment
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and welding symbols
• Proven ability to program robotic welding applications
• Strong knowledge of welding parameters and weld quality requirements
• Experience designing fixtures, jigs and work holding solutions
• Problem solving and root-cause analysis skills

Responsibilities

• Develop, create and maintain all Migatronic cobot welding programs in-house
• Program new products and modify existing welding programs to production needs
• Set up, teach and optimize robot welding paths, parameters and sequences
• Conduct welding trials and first-offs for approval
• Troubleshoot programming, welding quality and equipment issues
• Collaborate with engineering and production to improve productivity and reduce cycle times
• Design and improve fixtures, jigs and work holding solutions
• Ensure compliance with welding specifications, drawings and work instructions
• Complete quality checks and maintain production documentation
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Train operators on cobot welding processes and best practices
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment
• Carry out manual MIG/TIG welding when cobot workload allows

PSJ fabrications, a Wood subsidiary company are recruiting for a Robotic Welding Programmer & Operator to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team based in Bedford.

The Role

The position requires an experienced Robot Welding Programmer to operate, develop and optimise our robotic welding systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking existing robotic welding programmes and putting components through production, while also adjusting and developing the process as required.

The role requires a hands‑on welder who can confidently operate and programme robotic welding equipment, troubleshoot and refine existing programmes, and ensure components are produced to the required quality and specification.

PSJ Fabrications are a subsidiary of Wood specialising in the fabrication of sheet metals from simple brackets to bespoke enclosures and larger fabrication projects.

Our 23,000 sq. feet facility in Bedford is host to “cutting edge” machinery with capabilities including; Fibre Optic Laser cutting, Brake press forming and Micro bore Welding.

Accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and EN1090-1 we have the ability to perform bespoke manufacturing as well as high volume manufacturing.
