Job summary

Hernshead Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Robotics/Mechatronics Engineer to provide hands-on support for advanced robotic systems in a cutting-edge environment. The role involves troubleshooting, integration, testing and maintenance across electrical, mechanical and software domains.

You will work with ROS and Python, analyze system data, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve reliability while supporting shifts (morning or evening) within a 37.5-hour week.

Qualifications

  • Professional background in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Strong electrical and systems engineering knowledge.
  • Practical experience working with robotic systems.
  • Good understanding of Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with industrial or computer networking, including IP configuration.
  • Software development experience, ideally using Python.
  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical support, troubleshooting and maintenance of robotic systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, software and system-level faults.
  • Support the integration, testing and commissioning of robotic systems.
  • Troubleshoot robotics hardware, sensors, actuators and associated control systems.
  • Work with Linux-based systems and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
  • Configure and troubleshoot IP addresses, network connections and communications.
  • Develop, modify and troubleshoot software used within robotic systems.
  • Work with ROS and Python for robotics development and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze system logs and technical data to identify and resolve faults.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and contribute to improving system reliability.
  • Document technical issues, repairs and system changes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and software teams to resolve complex technical issues.

About this position:

We are currently recruiting for Robot Service Engineers to support a cutting-edge robotics environment, working with advanced robotic systems within a highly innovative technology setting. The role will be working on either a morning or evening shift, with a total working week of 37.5 hours. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Robotics or Mechatronics Engineer to work hands-on with complex robotic technology while supporting the reliability and performance of the systems.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
