Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Roadside Technician in the UK. With Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) and 2+ years’ experience, you’ll start and finish from home, working local zones to get members back on the road.

In the Patrol division you’ll diagnose and repair on the roadside, provide breakdown support, and work in a fast-paced, rewarding environment. You’ll be equipped with a RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, tools and diagnostic kit from day one.

Qualifications

• Level 2 LV Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Provide roadside diagnostics and repairs to restore members’ mobility.
• Deliver emergency breakdown support and dependable service across the UK.

Roadside Vehicle Technician

Join the RAC as a Roadside Technician

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' experience, you'll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £41,600 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable) and a realistic OTE of £65,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

Where you'll work

You'll be part of the Richmond cluster, covering areas like Richmond, Barnes, Mortlake, Putney, Roehampton, Wandsworth. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you'll need

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Job Responsibilities

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
