Job summary

RAC in Macclesfield, Cheshire, seeks a Roadside Vehicle Technician to join the Patrol division. You will perform mechanical roadside repairs, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK, helping members get back on the road quickly.

You’ll start and end your day at home, commute in your RAC van with full uniform and diagnostic kit provided, and benefit from a strong base salary (£42,921.87) with realistic OTE (£43k–£53k).

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent is required.
• At least 2+ years' experience in vehicle maintenance; 5+ years in technician roles preferred.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Start and end day at home, visiting members locally.
• Use RAC van, fuel card, tools, and diagnostic kit provided.

Where you'll work

You’ll be part of the Stockport cluster, covering areas like Manchester (City Centre, South & East), Stockport, Sale, Altrincham, Cheadle, Didsbury, Chorlton, Stretford, Urmston, Wythenshawe, Wilmslow, Handforth, Alderley Edge. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside – combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
