Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Roadside Technician to deliver mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK. You will start and finish your day at home, receiving an RAC van, fuel card and all essential tools to respond quickly to members in need.

The role requires Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) and 2+ years' experience, plus a full UK driving licence. Shifts are demand-led with local travel.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in roadside vehicle repair or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence with <6 points.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical roadside repairs, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Start and finish at home base with local call-outs.
• Use RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools and diagnostic kit provided.

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' experience, you'll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

Where you'll work

You'll be part of the Warrington cluster, covering areas like Warrington, Widnes, Runcorn, Newton-le-Willows, Leigh, Golborne, Ashton-in-Makerfield. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you'll need

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You'll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service. We'll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
