Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to join our Patrol division, covering the Harlow cluster and surrounding towns across the UK. You’ll diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs, and provide emergency breakdown support, starting and ending your day at home with an RAC van and full tooling.

You’ll bring 2+ years’ experience or 5+ years in the trade, hold a full UK driving licence, and deliver confident, calm service to members in need. This role blends hands-on tech with great customer care.

• 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Harlow cluster, covering areas like Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Waltham Abbey, Epping, Hoddesdon.

We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience or
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
