Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to join our Patrol division across the UK. You’ll perform roadside mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support, starting and ending your day at home, in a role that combines technical skill with exceptional member service.

Expect strong base pay with a potential OTE, generous benefits, and the chance to progress with a trusted, long‑standing brand in automotive services.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Fault diagnostics and quick, confident solutions for members.

Education

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside – combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
