Job summary

RAC is hiring a Roadside Technician in the Bournemouth cluster. You will diagnose and repair vehicles at the roadside, delivering quick, confident solutions to get members back on the road across the UK.

You’ll start and end your day at home, with a RAC van, fuel card, full uniform and diagnostic kit provided. A full UK licence with <6 points is required and vehicle maintenance experience is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience, OR
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Tackle issues such as flat batteries, tyre changes, and fault-finding.
• Start and end your day at home, working locally in your Bournemouth cluster.
• Use RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools and diagnostic kit provided.

• A market competitive base salary of £42,921.87 (Inclusive of night allowance) complimented by an average OTE ranging from £43,000 to £53,000.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering areas like Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood, Wareham, Swanage.

We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience, OR
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside – combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
