Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to join the Patrol division in the UK. You will diagnose and repair vehicles at the roadside, delivering rapid, customer-focused service. You start and finish your day at home, with a RAC van and all necessary tools provided.

The role offers a market-competitive base salary and realistic OTE, plus a range of benefits and ongoing training. Ideal candidates have 2+ years on the job with Level 2 qualifications or 5+ years’ experience as a vehicle technician, and

• NVQ Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance with 2+ years’ experience, or 5+ years as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Perform fault diagnostics, tyre changes, battery jumps and other roadside repairs.
• Operate from home base with RAC van, fuel card, tools and diagnostic kit provided.

About The Role

Join the RAC as a Roadside Technician

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equilavent) and at least 2 years' experience, you’ll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

What you’ll need:

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience or
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.
