RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to perform mechanical roadside repairs, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK. You will diagnose faults, provide quick solutions and reassure members in their time of need.

The role offers a structured development pathway with hands-on training and IMI accreditation opportunities, plus a focus on safety, technical growth, and delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) for Light Vehicle Maintenance.
• 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics across the UK.
• Provide emergency breakdown support and quick, confident solutions.
• Diagnose faults and help members resume journeys safely.
• Operate with latest diagnostic technology and maintain high customer service standards.

£36,400 base salary with a realistic OTE of £61,000, with top performers earning significantly more through bonus and enhanced overtime rates.

Starting and finishing on your driveway, with demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week and optional overtime available.

A structured development programme with hands-on learning, ongoing support and the opportunity to achieve accreditation through the motor industry's professional body, the IMI.

What you’ll need...

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• or
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• and
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

About the role

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll work independently to diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely. Every day brings different challenges, new environments and the opportunity to make an immediate impact when people need the RAC most.

You’ll combine technical expertise with great customer service, using the latest diagnostic technology to identify faults and get members back on the road quickly and safely.

You’ll be trusted to make decisions, supported to develop your skills and equipped with everything you need to succeed.
