Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician located in the Exeter cluster area to serve members across the UK. You will diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs, and provide emergency breakdown support with a focus on fast, high‑quality service.

The role offers a home‑start structure, a dedicated RAC van, fuel card, and full tools, with shifts that average about 40 hours per week and optional overtime. A Level 2 LV Maintenance qualification+experience is required.

• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Start and finish your day at home while travelling to jobs in your local area.
• Provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance to RAC members when they need it most.

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equilavent) and at least 2 years' experience, you’ll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Exeter cluster, covering areas like Exeter, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Honiton, Tiverton, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton, Dawlish.

We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside – combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
