Octane Recruitment is seeking a Roadside Technician for a national breakdown company. The role is field-based, based in Hampstead, with a base pay of £55,869 (including LWA) and an OTE up to £61,000.

It offers a permanent, full-time contract, substantial overtime, and a structured shift pattern across diverse hours. Expect seven days’ scheduling visibility, up to overnight stays, and a strong benefits package including pension, life insurance, and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside mechanical and electrical repairs including battery/lug fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and options for repair.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible to restore mobility.
• Advise members on next steps and recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments and conditions.

Roadside Technician – Superflex role (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

In a Roadside Technician Patrol - Superflex role, you’ll be part of our most agile and responsive unit – ready to support drivers when they need it most. This role is designed for those who can offer extra flexibility around changing schedules, less sociable hours, and shorter notice periods. The basic salary is substantially higher than a standard Patrol Technician to compensate for the flexibility needed for this role.

Pay / salary: £55,869 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: Up to £61,000

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week, averaged over the year. Scheduling visibility – working pattern issued seven days in advance, with 72 hours’ notice for the specific hours. Working hours range is 6.00am – 02.00am, occasional overnight stay. Rest and recovery – 11 hours of rest between shifts and a minimum of two days off every fortnight. Shift hours may be reduced or withdrawn with a day’s notice, so it’s important that you can be adaptable. Shift times – shifts may start early, finish late, or fall on any day of the week. Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

What you’ll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
