The Role

Silcom Recruitment are seeking an experienced Roadside Technician to join a well-established, family-run business operating from Exeter across the majority of Devon, Cornwall & Somerset.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled motor mechanic with recovery experience to join a professional team delivering roadside assistance and recovery services 24/7. The ideal candidate will have a solid mechanical background, excellent diagnostic skills, and a strong commitment to customer service and safety.

You'll work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, supporting customers, diagnosing faults, and ensuring vehicles are safely repaired or recovered with professionalism and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and recover vehicles safely and efficiently
• Diagnose and repair faults where possible, or arrange recovery if not
• Provide outstanding customer service, ensuring safety and reassurance at all times
• Work confidently under pressure, using initiative to resolve varied challenges
• Complete all required paperwork and follow company procedures
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold company standards
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple bases

Essential Requirements

• Qualified in motor mechanics with experience in the motor trade
• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points)
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
• Good knowledge of the Exeter and Spreyton areas
• Willingness to work variable shifts, covering 24/7/365 operations.

The Package

• Basic Salary: £40,560 per annum
• Additional: £10 per shift tax-free meal allowance
• Commission: Earn extra on certain parts and services
• Hours: Approximately 60 hours per week, flexible 24/7 shift pattern
