Job summary

The AA is seeking a Roadside Rescue Mechanic to join our UK team. You’ll patrol and respond to breakdowns, working around a 40-hour week with flexible shift options and dependence on location. You’ll be the friendly face helping members get back on the road and stay safe in any weather.

Starting from your driveway, you’ll operate independently yet remain part of a supportive team, using your vehicle knowledge to diagnose and fix issues on the spot. A strong customer focus is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.

Responsibilities

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.
