Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.

You’ll diagnose faults independently, respond quickly to members in need and use the latest diagnostic tools while delivering confident, courteous service.

This role includes a structured development pathway, access to IMI accreditation and a competitive package featuring £36,400 base salary with a realistic £61,000 OTE.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years of experience.
• Alternatively 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

What you’ll need...

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

About the role

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You'll work independently to diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely. Every day brings different challenges, new environments and the opportunity to make an immediate impact when people need the RAC most.

You'll combine technical expertise with great customer service, using the latest diagnostic technology to identify faults and get members back on the road quickly and safely.

You'll be trusted to make decisions, supported to develop your skills and equipped with everything you need to succeed.
