Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to diagnose faults and deliver expert mechanical roadside repairs and emergency breakdown support across the UK. The role offers a strong base pay with an achievable OTE and opportunities for overtime, with structured development and IMI accreditation pathways.

You will start from your driveway, work demand-led shifts averaging about 40 hours per week, and have access to ongoing training, diagnostics technology, and career progression within RAC’s Patrol

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Join the RAC as a Roadside Technician and solve problems that keep people moving. As a Roadside Technician, you'll benefit from: £41,600 with a realistic OTE of £66,000 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with top performers earning significantly more through bonus and enhanced overtime rates. Starting and finishing on your driveway, with demand‐led shifts averaging 40 hours per week and optional overtime available. A structured development programme with hands‐on learning, ongoing support and the opportunity to achieve accreditation through the motor industry's professional body, the IMI.

What you'll need...

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
