A local government organization in Shrewsbury is looking for a Cycle Training Instructor to inspire the next generation to cycle. The successful applicant will deliver various active travel initiatives and engage comfortably with children and adults. You will be required to qualify for a national instructing award funded by the council. This role offers flexible work with competitive pay and benefits.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to help inspire the next generation to cycle.
In this dynamic role there will be a focus to promote and deliver various active travel initiatives, including but not limited to Bikeability, Learn to Ride training and cycle maintenance workshops. The successful candidate will have experience in working with both groups and with people on a 1:1 basis. The role will involve working in both school based and community based training. There will also be the need to support delivery after school and may involve some weekend working.
You need to be able to ride a bike and be able to work positively with children and adults. All successful applicants will be required to undertake training to qualify as a 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training. This is a national qualification which will be funded by Telford & Wrekin Council.
Applicants will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to relate these skills to children and adults. You will need the ability to solve problems positively and appropriately whilst delivering target based training. You will need the confidence and ability to train groups, maintain discipline and inspire learning in a fun and dynamic environment.
The role may also see you delivering various other road safety education initiatives such as pedestrian training, classroom based workshops and working at Telford Bike Hub to offer cycle hire and other activities.
This is a casual post and work does fluctuate throughout the year.
