Job summary

Foreperson – Road Planing at Tarmac near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, leads on-site teams delivering highway planing projects. You’ll manage machines, subcontractors, and safety compliance while mentoring operatives to broaden skills and responsibilities.

The role emphasizes a strong safety culture, teamwork, and continuous improvement within a National Road Planing team. A Caterpillar 2m road planer background is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a road planer, preferably Caterpillar 2m.
• Experience in highways or road planing industry.
• CSCS qualification.
• Full UK manual driving licence with ≤6 penalty points.
• Strong surfacing methods understanding.
• Knowledge of road planing machinery.

Responsibilities

• Manage machines, vehicles and site operatives safely and effectively.
• Deliver daily briefings and toolbox talks on safety and compliance.
• Complete site records and environmental assessments.
• Attend and deliver site inductions and briefings.
• Promote safety culture by reporting hazards and near misses.
• Support development of team members and multi-skilling.
