Job summary

Bondaval is hiring a Risk Underwriter to analyse and underwrite UK and international risks within delegated authority, keeping every decision inside our risk appetite and guidelines.

Our London book is growing across multi-buyer, select risk and single obligor programmes. We offer hybrid work with regular presence at the Bermondsey Street office, and in year one you will own a share of the portfolio and present papers to the Underwriting Committee.

• Analyse and underwrite new and on-boarded risks within delegated authority.
• Carry out detailed buyer credit analysis: financials, sector, country and payment behaviour.
• Prepare transaction papers for the Underwriting Committee, and present them.
• Monitor the portfolio for emerging risks and recommend action.
• Track and report portfolio metrics and performance indicators.
• Support renewal reviews and execution with brokers and clients.
• Give product and engineering practical feedback on the tools you use every day.

About the Role

We are hiring a Risk Underwriter to analyse and underwrite UK and international risks within delegated authority, keeping every decision inside our risk appetite and guidelines.

Our London book is growing across multi-buyer, select risk and single obligor programmes. We need more underwriting capacity in the core team to keep decisions fast without loosening discipline.

In year one, success means owning a share of the portfolio independently and taking your own papers to the Underwriting Committee.

Hybrid, with regular presence at our Bermondsey Street office.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and underwrite new and on-boarded risks within delegated authority.
• Carry out detailed buyer credit analysis: financials, sector, country and payment behaviour.
• Prepare transaction papers for the Underwriting Committee, and present them.
• Monitor the portfolio for emerging risks and recommend action.
• Track and report portfolio metrics and performance indicators.
• Support renewal reviews and execution with brokers and clients.
• Give product and engineering practical feedback on the tools you use every day.

About You

Required:

• 3+ years in credit underwriting or credit analysis, ideally in trade credit insurance, a bank or a credit insurer.
• Strong financial analysis and sound commercial judgement.
• Clear, concise writing that turns analysis into a well-argued recommendation.
• Comfort working across international jurisdictions and their credit and legal environments.

Nice to have:

• Experience with trade credit, surety or credit insurance policy structures and wordings.
• Experience working with brokers and capacity providers.
• A second European language.
