Role overview

The Risk Manager has a key role throughout the project lifecycle, identifying, analysing and responding to risks that arise over the life cycle of the programme, to help ensure the programme remains on track and meets its goal.

Infrastructure project delivery is a challenging environment, with inter-dependencies between a number of programmes and projects. The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective application of programme and project management skills, tools and techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Chair monthly risk review meetings, maintain the risk register, issue minutes, and produce a monthly risk dashboard summarising totals and key changes.
  • Facilitate risk and opportunity identification and support development of mitigation plans.
  • Conduct critical reviews to ensure risks are accurate, manageable, and non-duplicated, and track mitigation actions to confirm effective management.
  • Support QRR activities, including QSRA/QCRA modelling and quarterly SRA/CRA reporting.
  • Lead assumptions management and maintain NBCC elements of the MDAL.
  • Provide strategic risk insight across timelines and activities, promote effective leadership and collaboration, and maintain strong relationships with industry partners to monitor performance and address emerging issues.
  • Ensure full compliance with all agreed processes and key infrastructure procedures.
Requirements
Essential
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience including having worked as lead/sole Risk Manager
  • Sole UK Citizenship & SC clearance held/gained in advance of commencing in the role
  • Able to objectively analyse data and information to form a big-picture view of risk.
  • Process detailed information to identify trends.
  • Organisational and leadership skills
  • Experience of risk analysis for infrastructure works.
  • Hands on experience of managing delivery and stakeholder management.
  • Good IT skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of their industry, including competitors and adversaries
  • Ability to communicate effectively at an executive level.
  • Ability to be agile and react to changes in the business environment.
  • Experience of managing risk in complex live operational environment
