Job summary

Leonardo seeks an experienced Risk Manager to support governance and continuous improvement of Project Risk Management within a Line of Business in the Electronics Division. Leonardo is looking for an experienced Risk Manager to support the effective implementation, governance and continuous improvement of the Project Risk Management process within a Line of Business (LOB) in the Electronics Division.

As the local subject matter expert for the Leonardo Risk Management framework, you will provide independent oversight, assurance and governance across projects, while offering constructive challenge and expert guidance to Integrated Project Teams (IPTs). You will play a key role in ensuring that project risks and opportunities are identified, assessed, managed and reported effectively, supporting informed decision‑making and successful project delivery.

This is a senior role requiring significant experience in Project Risk Management. The successful candidate will be confident operating at senior levels, influencing stakeholders and providing effective challenge to project teams and leadership.

The role would suit an experienced Project Risk Manager, Lead Risk Manager or Senior Project Controls professional.

The role works independently while maintaining strong relationships with delivery teams, ensuring risk management processes is applied consistently, proportionately and in line with corporate policy and risk appetite. Support will be provided across the full project lifecycle, from bid through to execution.

The role can be based at our Basildon / Luton/ London or Southampton site, with occasional travel to other Leonardo UK sites and possibly occasional travel to Italy as required.

The Risk Manager Will Champion a Strong Risk Intelligent Culture Across The Sites, Providing Expert Advice, Governance Oversight, And Assurance To IPTs, Including

• Providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to ensure compliance with risk management policies, standards, and governance requirements
• Contribute to the definition, monitoring and continuous improvement of the RM Framework and oversee the implementation of the risk management process
• Supporting IPTs to identify, assess and manage risks and opportunities, ensuring clarity, consistency, and quality of risk information.
• Advising on appropriate risk treatment and mitigation strategies
• Analysing post-treatment residual risk using Monte Carlo analysis, supporting informed decision‑making and confidence in project forecasts
• Supporting contingency setting, justification, and ongoing management, ensuring alignment to risk exposure and risk appetite and advising when escalation is required
• Producing risk reports, ensuring timely, accurate and decision‑focused insight in line with reporting cycles
• Aggregating/Automating and analysing risk trends and AI predictive analysis across projects, identifying systemic issues, and driving continuous improvement activity
• Mentoring and support to Project Risk Managers
• Analyze context, business processes (through KPIs and KRIs), risk knowledge‑base, lessons learned, audit findings (internal and external) and promote structural actions by supporting the company's continuous improvement process
• Analyze processes for collecting and storing risk data, including for the purpose of ensuring data quality

In Addition, The Role Will

• Facilitate risk identification, review, and assurance workshops, providing challenge and guidance to improve risk quality and maturity.
• Deliver training, coaching, and mentoring to individuals and teams to embed consistent, high‑quality risk management practices.
• Review and assure risk registers, assumptions, quantification, and mitigation plans to ensure completeness and robustness.
• Support governance forums and senior stakeholders with clear, evidence‑based risk insight.
• Assist the IPTs and senior management with ad hoc requests, including review of internal documentation and risk management deliverables for customer submission.
• Support assurance activities and provide input to internal reviews or audits as required.
