Goldman Sachs in Birmingham is seeking a Software Engineer - Analyst to join the Market Risk Analytics & Reporting (A&R) team within Risk Engineering. The role focuses on delivering metrics and insights across market risk, building scalable data workflows and ensuring high data quality.

The candidate will use Python and SQL for ETL and data analysis, with exposure to tools like Tableau, Alteryx and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as data science, mathematics, physics, econometrics, computer science or engineering.
• 1–3 years of experience, preferably in financial, regulatory or consulting environment.
• Entrepreneurial, analytically creative, self-motivated and team-oriented.
• Excellent written, verbal and team-oriented communication skills.
• Working knowledge of the financial industry, markets and products and associated non-financial risk.
• Working knowledge of mathematics including statistics, time series analysis and numerical algorithms.
• Experience with programming in Python and SQL for ETL and data analysis; R/Java/C++ beneficial.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Deliver regular and reliable risk metrics, analytics and insights based on deep understanding of the firm’s businesses and client activities.
• Build robust workflows and procedures around the production of risk analytics for multiple risk domains.
• Attest to the quality, timeliness and completeness of underlying data used for analytics.
