Job Description

Rigorous Driver (Class 2) at Avonmouth Mill site. The main purpose of this role is to drive and operate a rigid lorry in accordance with Department of Transport regulations, EU drivers hours rules, other statutory regulations and company safety and health requirements. The driver will deliver bulk and bag products to customers efficiently, cost‑effectively and professionally. The role supports wider logistics operations and requires flexibility to meet business needs. The successful candidate will be willing to learn and develop, with a commitment to obtaining a Class 1 (HGV) licence to progress into a multiskilled driver role, enabling operation of a wider range of vehicles and contributing to the company’s operational versatility. The working pattern is an average of 48 hours, following a 5‑out‑of‑7 Sunday to Thursday bulk Monday‑to‑Friday bags shift pattern with flexible start times between 06:00 and 16:00 to meet operational demand.

Your Responsibilities
  • Work safely.
  • Drive and operate the rigid vehicle in accordance with legislation, including daily vehicle safety checks.
  • Unload and deliver flour sacks from the rigid lorry to customer premises following company operating procedures where applicable.
  • Discharge bulk flour in accordance with company operating procedures where applicable.
  • Assist in training and development of colleagues.
  • Deal with customers in a professional manner.
  • Communicate between vehicle and office when necessary.
  • Clean vehicles at specified intervals and ensure deliveries are undertaken hygienically.
  • Complete paperwork regarding vehicle defect procedures, working time, deliveries and safety observation reports.
Your Profile
  • Holder of Class 2 licence for the vehicle driven.
  • Willing to obtain a Class 1 (HGV) licence to progress into a multiskilled driver role.
  • Experience and training in manual handling work.
  • Experience in customer relations.
  • Knowledge of flour products and food hygiene.
  • Possess Driver Certificate of Professional Competence.
  • Numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good communication skills.
