Job Purpose: To provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, care homes, GP surgeries, or community environments. The Registered General Nurse ensures the physical and emotional well-being of patients by assessing their needs, implementing care plans, and monitoring outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised patient care.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with NMC guidelines and clinical protocols.
- Monitor and record vital signs and symptoms.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and deteriorating patients.
- Clinical Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
- Assist in diagnostic tests and follow treatment plans.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
- Maintain infection control standards and health & safety compliance.
- Communication & Advocacy: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions and post-treatment care.
- Advocate for patients’ rights and best interests.
- Professional Standards: Adhere to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct.
- Participate in audits, training, and continuous professional development (CPD).
- Supervise and support junior staff or healthcare assistants as needed.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Valid NMC registration (Nursing and Midwifery Council - UK).
- Experience: Experience in acute, community, or elderly care settings (varies depending on the role).
- Newly qualified nurses may be accepted for certain roles with preceptorship support.
- Skills: Strong clinical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage time effectively.
