A growing advanced systems consultancy is seeking an RF Systems Engineer/Specialist to support R&D initiatives in the defence sector. This role involves designing and simulating RF systems, along with hands-on work in hardware prototyping. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in RF Engineering and experience with industry-standard simulation tools. The position offers a salary of up to £55,000 and remote work options.

Qualifications

  • Degree educated in RF Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or similar.
  • Proven experience in RF system design and simulation.
  • Competence with industry-standard simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of sensor array configurations and RF design principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design and simulation of RF systems and subsystems.
  • Technical analysis of signal propagation and component matching.
  • Support RF performance modelling across various spectral bands.
  • Assist in integration planning of RF components with processing platforms.
  • Contribute to laboratory validation and measurement campaigns.
  • Produce technical documentation and test records.

Job title: RF Systems Engineer / Specialist

Salary: Up to £55,000
Location: National (Remote / with essential site travel)

iO are partnered with a growing advanced systems consultancy now seeking an RF Engineer/Scientist to join on a permanent basis.

You will support an R&D initiative involving novel RF system concepts within the defence sector. This role involves hands-on work in RF modelling, simulation, and hardware prototyping, alongside collaboration with embedded systems and mission systems specialists.

Responsibilities
  • Design and simulation of RF systems and subsystems (e.g., sensor arrays, front-end modules).
  • Technical analysis of signal propagation, component matching, and noise performance.
  • Support modelling of system-level RF performance across various spectral bands (High-Frequency range).
  • Assist in integration planning of complex RF components with processing platforms.
  • Contribute to laboratory validation, physical layout support (e.g., PCB), and measurement campaigns.
  • Produce technical documentation and test records to ensure project compliance.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Degree educated in RF Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or similar
  • Proven experience in RF system design and simulation.
  • Competence with industry-standard simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Keysight ADS, HFSS, CST, or equivalents).
  • Working knowledge of sensor array configurations and physical-level RF design principles.
  • Eligibility to attain Baseline Security Check (BPS Standard).

This role is best suited to someone with strong theoretical and practical knowledge of RF system.

This role can offer up to £55,000 and the opportunity to work on a remote basis.
