Job summary

Universal Quantum is seeking an RF- Electronics Engineer to join the electronics team and drive RF PCB design and architecture for a cutting-edge quantum technology platform. You will define specifications, oversee verification, and collaborate across RF, electronics, ASIC, mechanical, software and physics teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, testing, and an iterative, proof-of-concept driven approach in a highly technical environment with flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Around 5–10 years RF PCB design experience (VHF to X-band).
• Strong RF hardware design principles.
• Ability to develop and execute RF test plans for complex systems.
• Knowledge of low-noise design techniques and testing.
• Proficiency with HFSS, CST and ADS for simulations.
• Experience working with suppliers and contractors.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

What You'll Accomplish

• RF PCB and architecture design activities for a custom RF delivery system including cables and transmission lines.
• Define specifications for key building blocks of the RF delivery system.
• Oversee all RF verification and validation testing including documentation.
• Expand your expertise across various engineering domains.
• Collaborate with RF team members, electronics engineers, ASIC/chip designers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists to achieve common goals.

The 2 Most Critical Attributes Where We'll Use to Compare Candidates

• Extensive RF front and backend PCB and System design experience (VHF to X-band frequencies).
• Proven hands‑on experience in designing complex RF systems from concept to delivery, including proficiency with FEA tools, particularly Ansys HFSS, CST and ADS.
• Inquisitive, co‑operative, empathetic and has a strong desire to work within a highly technical environment.

Must-have Skills

• Around 5-10 years of practical experience in RF PCB design (VHF to X-band).
• Strong understanding of RF hardware design principles.
• Expertise in developing and executing test plans for complex RF systems.
• Knowledge of low-noise design techniques and testing low-noise RF systems.
• Proficiency with FEA and simulation tools, especially Ansys HFSS, CST and ADS.
• Experience working with suppliers and contractors.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a team player.
• A minimum of a 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in System or Electronics Engineering or a related field.
