Job Overview

Are you keen on developing reward policies and programmes to support a sustainable and an inclusive workplace?

In Hempel we spend more than 400 m EUR each year on salaries. This is a significant part of our operational spend. The Rewards team works closely with Executive Group Management leaders, the People and Culture colleagues and external partners to develop reward policies, programmes and processes that enable us to manage this spend in the most optimal way. We do this with equity and transparency as our guiding star and we have a clear ambition to drive a sustainable rewards agenda in support of our ambition to double revenue and become an industry‑winning enterprise.

In this position you will lead various global reward initiatives and processes: the global Bonus / Incentive eligibility project, the Annual Salary Review process and other initiatives that make rewards compelling, competitive and aligned with an ever‑changing talent landscape.

Responsibilities
  • 1. Designing Variable Pay programmes

    Support the redesign of the Bonus programme, bring in subject‑matter expertise including business‑case development and stakeholder management.

    Research market data and best practices and provide insights to support bonus design decisions.

    Collaborate with all project members on policy documentation related to bonus programmes.

  • 2. Ensuring Hempel’s compliance towards EUPTD

    Assist in developing and implementing a structured Pay Equity approach across Hempel.

    Research and explore market benchmarks and develop best practices.

    Provide analytical support to ensure equitable compensation practices.

  • Ensuring Hempel stays competitive on reward programmes

    Support the development of a robust Employer Value Proposition (EVP) for rewards.

    Ensure Hempel has a transparent and fit‑for‑purpose rewards philosophy.

    Provide input on the alignment between internal salary ranges and market/external benchmarks.

    Contribute to the creation and refinement of salary ranges for consistency and market competitiveness.

  • 3. Supporting the annual wheel for executive & senior leadership compensation programme

    Ensure thorough data validation, insights and stakeholder engagement.

    Assist with documentation and communication related to the Annual Salary Review processes.

Qualifications
  • Relevant academic background at bachelor or master level or higher.
  • At least 6 years of experience in rewards management from a global organisation or as a consultant focusing on rewards, including managing global reward projects.
  • Project‑management experience.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of how rewards can bring value to an organisation.
  • Ability to thrive with complexity and navigate a large organisation.
  • Advanced Excel skills to work with large datasets.
  • Understanding how to plan and communicate change effectively and engage stakeholders at all levels.
