Job Description

Working within the Patient Review Team you will support primarily gynaecological and colorectal patients receiving treatment to the pelvic area (although work will include other tumour sites). This involves anticipating, identifying and actively managing common and complex treatment related side effects, routinely undertaking assessment of a patient's symptoms using advanced knowledge and skills to analyse often highly complex clinical situations. You will evaluate all data and information relevant to patients' treatments and ensure that the patient and their relatives are treated with dignity and respect at all times. This includes assessing the psychosocial needs of the patient and family and providing skilled support, signposting and making appropriate referrals to other services both within the hospital and the wider community setting.

As a Review Radiographer you will be responsible for providing emotional and holistic support to patients with gynaecological or colorectal cancer discussing matters of a highly sensitive nature. You will act as the patient's voice, assist in conducting audits and studies to improve patient experience within the department and participate in the production of patient information material. The purpose of this role is to support gynaecological and colorectal patients undergoing radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy to the pelvic area, to support the continuous improvement of supportive care and the development of education and information resources.
